Seasonal painting class series launched in Ira Township – The Voice
A new round of seasonal painting classes will begin in Ira Township on February 5.
The Yellow Brush Painting Class with Jane Weis will be at 10:30 a.m. at Ira Township Hall. Participants will paint “Winter”, a painting that Weis created for the painting class series titled Seasons.
The Seasons series will continue throughout 2022 with Weis hosting each of the classes. The spring course will be on May 21, summer will be on July 16, and fall will be on September 24.
During the course, Weis will provide a step-by-step demonstration and walk around to help anyone on a limited basis. The size of the painting will be an 11 inch by 14 inch canvas. Weis will supply the canvas, paint, palettes and brushes.
Weis is the owner, artist and instructor of Yellow Brush Art Studio and Yellow Brush Paint-in Parties. The studio offers art classes for teens and adults and specializes in oil and acrylic painting.
“I met Jane at least 13 years ago,” Ira Township Director of Recreation Cindy Babisz said. “She has always been an inspiration to me and many other budding artists. She makes painting fun.
Weis also held a popular course in Ira Township last fall.
“I want to continue to provide art programs that appeal to residents,” Babisz said.
Babisz chose the name Yellow Brush Paint-In Class to give Weis ownership and to remind attendees that Weis has an independent studio they can visit and “take their art education to a new level.”
The cost of the course is $35 per person. Pre-registration is required for sourcing purposes and the number of participants will be limited.
The township will follow all COVID-19 safety guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Babisz said.
Those interested in the class can register at the township offices, located at 7085 Meldrum Road. Those unable to register in person can deposit payment marked “Yellow Brush Painting” on the memo line of the check in the drop box located in the Township parking lot.

She further confirms dates for Music in the Park, Nature Heroes, Craft Classes and General Programs throughout the year.
The township is also reviewing timing and location options for a new archery program and is working on updating its recreation plan.
“Your input and suggestions are important to us,” Babisz said. “Please email or call with your feedback. Sponsorship and volunteer options continue to grow in Ira Township.
