Elizabeth City State University to offer students free book rental and housing credits
ELIZABETH CITY, NC (WAVY) – Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) has announced that it will offer free credit for book rental to all students seeking a degree for the academic year 2021-2022.
The credit will be $ 360 per semester as part of the university’s VikingPlus program. University officials hope this will help ease the financial burden on students and their families.
“We recognize that relieving the financial burden gives students more flexibility to focus on what is important, their academic work,” said Lisa McClinton, vice chancellor of business and finance.
Additionally, students who have earned free credit for book rental as part of the COVID-19 Vaccination Incentive will receive an additional $ 360 voucher for the fall semester.
Students will also receive $ 1,500 for their room and board plan if they are living on campus for the fall 2021 semester. This will add up to $ 1.5 million for the more than 1,000 students in residence.
“ECSU works tirelessly to provide access to quality education at an affordable price and to give our students every chance to succeed,” said Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon. “All of the VikingPlus initiatives are incredible opportunities to have significant impact and reduce student debt.”
Previously, nearly $ 300,000 in student debt was written off under the VikingPlus program.
